Peter Kenyon
MANCHESTER, England (AP)— Manchester United has reported Chelsea to the Premier League for using Peter Kenyon's services when he is still under contract with the Reds. Kenyon, Man United's former chief executive, left the club in early September to join Chelsea but has yet to reach a deal with both clubs over his starting date. United filed its complaint with the Premier League after a report in Spain said Kenyon had talked with Real Madrid about signing Michel Salgado for Chelsea.

Notts County have urged Roman Abramovich to donate Chelsea's portion of the gate receipts from their Carling Cup tie tomorrow night to help them avoid financial ruin. The cash-strapped club have called for the Russian billionaire to help them out because their membership of the Football League is hanging by a thread. Members of the Notts County Supporters Trust have written to the Chelsea owner, requesting that their hosts double the 45 per cent take of the ticket receipts due to the visitingclub .County can expect to recoup between £150,000 and £200,000 from their 45 per cent of the gate receipts. If that could be doubled with the help of a public relations masterpiece from Abramovich, their future would be more secure.

Veron
Juan Sebastian Veron, a notable absentee from Chelsea's squad against Manchester City, will return for the more prosaic challenge of Notts County in the Carling Cup on Wednesday.

Veron enjoyed one of his more effective games in Chelsea's Champions League victory over Lazio but Claudio Ranieri is still not satisfied with his fitness levels.

John Terry
Chelsea were the first team to field a starting eleven without an Englishman but, as witnessed on Wednesday against Lazio, it is a very English approach to the game which could bring European success to Stamford Bridge.
The 2-1 win over Lazio took Chelsea to the top of their group and, for John Terry, captain in place of the injured Marcel Desailly, it is that Englishness that enabled his side to overcome the Italians.

Terry said: "I think there will always be an English mentality to this club, no matter how many foreign signings the manager makes. He wants us all to be able to fight when it gets tough and I think we showed that we can do that against Lazio. "To produce that English spirit against a team like Lazio with quality players is even more pleasing.
They are a good side with a real Italian mentality but we showed that we really do believe in ourselves. "All the lads know that if there is a tackle to be made or a ball to be won, myself and Frank [Lampard] don't just go for it but we'll put ourselves right through it.
We don't even think about it, even in training. Because we don't know any other way. That's the English spirit. "Yes, there might be a lot of different people from different nationalities in the club but that doesn't make any difference, whatever people say. People could easily be upset because they're not in the starting eleven or on the bench, but that isn't the mentality." '

                                                       Chelsea 2 v 1 Lazio
Chelsea's hopes of pulling off a much-needed Champions League victory at home to Lazio on Wednesday have been boosted by the absence of defender Fernando Couto from the Italian side. Couto has been ruled out of the Group G clash at Stamford Bridge after suffering a head injury. The Italian club confirmed that the 34-year-old, who was taken to hospital after suffering the knock in Lazio's 1-0 defeat at AC Milan on Sunday, had been ruled out. Lazio are top of Group G with four points from their opening two matches, while Chelsea, third in the English Premiership after their defeat at Arsenal on Saturday, are tied on three points with Turkish side Besiktas.

Arsenal 2 v 1 Chelsea
Edu 5 - Crespo 8 - Henry 75

Arsenal beat Chelsea 2-1 to replace it at the top of the English Premier League.
Arsenal had taken a 1-0 lead when Edu's 25-yard free kick deflected off Ray Parlour and went in after just four minutes. It took Chelsea only three minutes to tie on Hernan Crespo's goal. A good first half for Chelsea which did not do as well in the second half .
The teams were tied until, with 15 minutes left, Chelsea goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini went to scoop up the ball but let it slip away. It went off Arsenal's Thierry Henry and into the net . No not again Carlo , (a very similar error which helped Besiktas beat Chelsea 2-0 at Stamford Bridge in the Champions League earlier this month)..
Arsenal pressure finally killed our dream ., but we'll be back.

Ranieri

Lampard
Claudio Ranieri has become the first Chelsea boss ever to take a Barclaycard Manager of the Month award, after scooping September's prize. The genial Italian has brushed aside speculation regarding his future at Stamford Bridge, to take his side to the top of the Premiership tree.
His side's efforts in September stand the closest scrutiny, as The Blues netted ten goals while registering three Premiership wins as well as victory at Sparta Prague in the Champions League
Frank Lampard has won Player of the Month Awards"Much of Chelsea's early season success can be attributed to the form of Frank Lampard. He has shown he can play the part of goal scorer as well as goal provider and his current form underlines what a key player he is for the West London outfit."
The Barclaycard Awards Panel includes representatives from football's governing bodies, the media and fans.

Wayne Rooney

Everton dismissed reports that Wayne Rooney could leave to join Chelsea. Rooney, 17, is already a regular with the England squad and recently signed a three-year contract at Everton, the club he supported as a boy. The Sun reported on its front page Thursday that Chelsea was planning a 35-million-pound bid for Rooney. The unsourced story said a Chelsea official held talks with Rooney's management team last week.

Everton manager David Moyes said the rumors were ``complete rubbish.'' ``There is no truth to it as far as I know and as the manager, I would expect to know something like that if it was happening,'' Moyes said. ``When I joined the club I made it clear to the board that if they haven't got any money, then don't give me any, but don't take away my best players. Nothing has changed.''

Rodney Marsh
www.rodmarsh.com
Rodney Marsh is predicting that Chelsea will NOT win the Premiership. The Soccer Saturday pundit and skysports.com columinist is so adamant that the big-spending Blues will be beaten to the ultimate prize, he will blitz the old barnet for charity if they do. "Maybe its time we had another challenge and I'm happy to raise money for charity if Chelsea win the Premiership - I just don't think they will. "As I said before the season, they have signed some great players but I just don't think they are ready to overtake Manchester United and Arsenal yet."

Chelsea were held to a goalless draw by battling Birmingham but still moved to the top of the Premiership, leapfrogging London rivals Arsenal.
Steve Bruce's Blues also moved up a place into fourth courtesy of the point earned from a dour showdown, where clear-cut chances were at a premium.
Chelsea simply could not find a way through and both teams will be happy with a point as Chelsea are still unbeaten in the Premiership and Birmingham are in a Champions League spot.
